This impressive vintage German “After the Hunt” cuckoo clock features an unusual combination: an 8-day clock movement paired with a separate 1-day musical mechanism. The clock only requires winding approximately once a week, while the musical mechanism is wound daily.
The large, deeply carved case depicts the traditional “After the Hunt” theme, with three-dimensional deer, crossed rifles, hunting horns, game animals, and richly carved oak leaves. A magnificent stag stands prominently above the clock, while animated dancers rotate beneath the cuckoo door when the music plays.
The Swiss-made Reuge music box alternates between two traditional melodies:
• “Der Fröhliche Wanderer” (The Happy Wanderer)
• “Edelweiss”

RESTORATION & CONDITION
This clock has been carefully restored, serviced, adjusted, and tested. The clock movement was removed from the case, cleaned, inspected, lubricated, and properly adjusted. The cuckoo, music, dancers, and shutoff mechanisms have all been tested for dependable operation.
The carved wooden case was gently cleaned while preserving its original vintage character and rich finish.
As expected with a vintage clock, minor signs of age and previous use may be present. Please review all photographs closely, as they are an important part of the description.
OPERATION
The 8-day clock movement is powered by weights and normally requires winding approximately once each week. The separate musical mechanism is powered by its own weight and requires daily winding if regular musical operation is desired.
The cuckoo announces the time on the hour and once on the half-hour. Following the cuckoo call, the dancers rotate while the music box plays one of its two alternating melodies.
A manual shutoff lever allows the cuckoo and music to be silenced when desired.

MEASUREMENTS
This clock measures approximately 18” from the bottom of the center game bag to the top of the stags horn. It measures approximately 10-1/2” side to side across the roof topper and is approximately 8-1/2” deep.
Measurements do not include the hanging weights, chains, or pendulum.

This is a restored vintage mechanical clock, not a new clock. Mechanical cuckoo clocks require proper wall placement, leveling, and occasional adjustment after shipping. Slight variations in timing, sound, wood coloring, and operation are normal characteristics of an authentic vintage clock.
