Cuckoo Restorations began as a passion for bringing vintage German cuckoo clocks back to life—and has grown into my second career.
After nearly 40 years working in mechanical design and engineering, I retired and turned my attention to the intricate mechanisms, traditional craftsmanship, and unique character of Black Forest cuckoo clocks. What began as a rewarding hobby eventually became Cuckoo Restorations, based in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin.
Every clock offered here is personally restored in my workshop. The movement is carefully inspected, cleaned, repaired, adjusted, oiled, and tested. Bellows, music boxes, animations, carvings, and other components are repaired or replaced when necessary. My goal is not to make these clocks look brand new, but to preserve their history and character while returning them to dependable working condition.
No two vintage cuckoo clocks are exactly alike. Each has its own design, mechanical personality, and story. Some arrive needing only careful servicing, while others require extensive mechanical and case restoration. Seeing a clock cuckoo, play music, and come alive again after years of silence is what makes this work so rewarding.
My wife also plays an important role by helping photograph the completed clocks so customers can see the details and condition of each one before purchasing.
Every finished clock is thoroughly tested before being listed. When one sells, it is carefully packed to help ensure it arrives safely and ready to be enjoyed. Free shipping is included anywhere in the continental United States.
